The Story So Far:

 

For the last 5 years we have been running The Bullers Arms in Chagford.  One Sunday evening at the beginning of December two friends came in for supper and related the story of The Kestor closing and the fact that it was going to be sold as a freehold property.  They also mentioned that they thought we would be ideally suited to The Kestor!!

 

That was the seed sown! 

 

The property actually went on the market in January—the day we viewed was thick snow and we got stuck on the car park.  It took until the 23rd February until we found out that we had been the lucky bidders.  We finally completed the purchase on 19th April when the hard work began.

 

We have completely refitted the kitchen and installed new appliances.  All new beer fonts have been put in, the bar given a lick of paint and some new lights.  The dining room has been given a clean, fresh look.  The pool room now has a new carpet, fresh paint on the walls, new cloth and cushions on the pool table and a tv on the wall for those who want to watch sport whilst playing pool.

 

The area in the lobby that was previously used as a childrens room is now a small shop selling basic items like milk, eggs, tea bags, coffee and toilet rolls.  There are also maps and walking books for the area on sale so if you are stuck for somewhere to go we can help. 

 

We have just been awarded a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating by Teignbridge District Council—one of only a handful of 5-star ratings on the moor.
